gamzee is the court jester/bard, though he was mostly given the position to hide his hatchright as the son of the grand highblood from other members of the court. he was taken as a ward (read: hostage) when the grand highblood and his cult of subjuggulators split from the alternian kingdom, culminating in The Great Scourge.
